I have to thank David Airey for this discovery. Whilst trawling through his exhaustive but brilliant blog site I found this little Gem, a film produced by the American Museum of Natural History. Watch in awe as it takes you from the Himalayas of Tibet to the limit of the observable universe.

I was not so long ago asked to design a logo for a new business. My first contact was with the director of this business we had a quick chat so that I could gain some background knowledge. I later sent him a (somewhat in depth) questionnaire to fill out, I do this with most new clients especially when dealing with these types of project. The questionnaire is supposed to help me discover the right approach to take. A few days later I recieved a strange response, the client had decided they couldn’t afford a graphic designer, but wait I hadn’t even quoted a price yet. Instead they opted to ’save money’ by using a friend of a family member who was studying art at school. I have two theories why this might have happened:
1) They didn’t like filling out questionnaires
2) The questionnaire demonstrated how in-depth a logo design project is and therefore a cost inevitably ensues. Logo design does not cost £5.
I’ll chose to go with theory 2 in which I respond “you pay peanuts, you get monkeys”
Marketing your business is so incredibly important, Coca-Cola spends £1.5 billion per year on their marketing. This is probably why they are the world’s most valuable brand.
In case you are wondering; I charge less than £1.5 billion for a logo design. Do we designers value out services to high?
Congratulations it’s a baby blog.
My blog has been born
Birth date: 07/09/09
I am Matt Rogers, the author of this blog. I am a 25 year old graphic designer living in the UK.
I hope in the not so distant future this blog will grow into a thriving entity that shares facts, thoughts, and opinions on everything design related whether it be graphic design, web design, logo design, brand identity etc. I may even add the odd tutorial. I may, for sake of sanity, throw in something off topic.
I look forward to responding to your comments and questions.
